FRUCOM draft letter on need for harmonization of national official controls

Published by SIPA

Please note the first item in the latest FRUCOM newsletter: Draft letter on need for harmonization of national official controls.

FRUCOM has drafted a letter to the European Commission on the need for harmonization of national official controls. The draft letter contains examples of products (figs and nuts) that were destroyed or detained on import by France, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Italy. In each case, the member state took enforcement action that went beyond the requirements of EU official controls legislation.

If you regularly experience a national measure, when importing fishery products, that goes beyond what is required by EU official controls legislation, please let me know (email me on i.bartolo@seafoodalliance.org by Friday 8 December at the latest). I will then pass it on to FRUCOM.
