Seafish has prepared guidance with a focus on helping UK seafood businesses continue to trade in 2021.
The UK has left the EU, but continues to trade under EU terms during the Transition Period. This Period comes to an end on 31 December 2020, and new rules will apply from 2021. Both UK businesses and EU businesses trading with the UK need to ensure they can continue to do so by obtaining any necessary customs authorisations, understanding catch certification and ensuring that they can provide health certification.
Seafood businesses can access the guidance most relevant to them based on whether they import into the UK, export from the UK, process and distribute or catch and farm seafood.
Another useful resource is the Food Industry Exit Hub, which is maintained by several food industry organisations. It has sections on importing, exporting, labelling, transport, workforce and Northern Ireland.
