China: registration website scam

Published by SIPA

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (Defra) in the UK has issued a warning that a fraudulent website is asking businesses to pay up to £10000 for ‘registration’ with Chinese Customs (GACC). Businesses tend to come across the website when researching how to register with GACC in order to export to China.

Defra have advised that China and the GACC do not charge for registration/approval listing. Exporters are being advised to contact Defra in the first instance if they wish to register with GACC.
